Ramona Marie St. Amand

East Hartford, CT–Ramona Marie St. Amand, 71, a former longtime resident of East Hartford, CT, died Saturday, January 13, 2001 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Hartland, VT on May 24, 1929, a daughter of the late Horace W. & Lyndall M. (Alger) Sawyer, and was a graduate of Hartland, VT High School-Class of 1947. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Central CT State University. For 19 years, she worked for the City of Hartford, CT as an instructor in the Adult Education Dept. She also taught at the Morse School of Business in Hartford, CT. She had been a resident of the Upper Valley area NH for the last year after living in East Hartford, CT for over 30 years.

She is survived by on daughter: Sherry Demers of Grantham, NH; three sons: Steven Rocke and Scott Rocke, both of Canaan, NH and Gary Rocke of Enfield, NH; one sister: Geneva Day of Vernon, CT; four grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held Wednesday, January 17th at 11 am in the Community Lutheran Church of Enfield, NH. The Pastor John Crilley officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of the Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon, NH.

Roland M. Sawyer

Enfield, NH–Roland M. Sawyer, 75, died Monday, May 19, 1997 at the Lebanon Center of Genesis ElderCare following a longtime illness. He was born to the late Phillip & Lucy Mae (Williams) Sawyer. He was a graduate of Kennett High School in Conway, NH and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. A longtime resident of Enfield, he had been employed by the Baltic Mills of Enfield; and had been an electrician for Frank T. Cody Electric Company of Hanover and West Lebanon, and later for many years with Richard Electric of Hanover. He was a member of the Lebanon Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. #2099. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable gardens and his berries.

Survivors include: Son, Richard L. Bill, Enfield; Sister, Marion Dragon, Haverhill; Sister, Beverly Cummings, Pepperill, MA; Sister, Barbara Fillian, Oakhurst, NH; Brother, Raymond Sawyer, Enfield; Bother, Clayton Sawyer, Barre, VT; 3 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: Wife, Pansy H. (Smith) Sawyer, died Nov. 30, 1996: Sister, Martha Sawyer; Brother, Archie Sawyer; Brother, Arthur Sawyer; Brother, Ralph Sawyer.

Pansy Hattie Sawyer

Enfield, NH–Pansy Hattie Sawyer, 76, passed away on November 30, 1996 at her home on Prospect St.  in Enfield.  The daughter of the late Carl and Ida (Bressett) Smith, she was born in Hanover on February 23, 1920.  She attended school in Lyme, Hanover, and Enfield and went to work at a young age at the Baltic Woolen Mill in Enfield.  After working in the mill for 30 years, she became supervisor of linen service at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover where she worked until she retired in 1990.  She was married to Roland Sawyer on October 3, 1947.  She loved animals and took many strays into her home and cared for them.  She also loved and cared for her grandchildren in her home.

Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home in Enfield on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m.  Funeral services were held at the Funeral services were held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 2 p.m.  with Rev. Cecilia Engelhardt officiating.  Burial will be in the spring in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield.

Survivors include:  her husband, Roland Sawyer of Enfield; a son, Richard Bill of Enfield; a sister, Daisy Wells of Enfield; a sister Lottie Columbia of Enfield; a brother, Chauncey Smith of Canaan; a brother, Peter Smith of Satatoga Springs, NY; three grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Clara Eunice Sawyer

Clara Eunice Sawyer, 87, of Pillsbury Street, Enfield, NH, died November 19, 1993 at Athol, Ma.  She was born in Springfield, NH, and attended Springfield schools.  She later moved to Enfield Center, NH.  She married Raymond P. Sawyer 11/26/31. She was employed by Baltic, Dorr, and Dewey Woolen Mills as a sewer before the closing of the mills.  Mrs. Sawyer was a 73 year member and Past Master of the Mount Calm Grange and served many years in the Mascoma Valley Pomona and State Grange.  During her retirement she served for over 14 years with the Meals on Wheels and RSVP programs.  She also made stuffed toys for Shriner’s Hospitals and David’s House.

Burial will be in the spring in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield.  The family suggests memorial contributions to The Union Church, %April Farwell, Enfield Center, NH, 03749.

Survivors include: Husband, Raymond, of Enfield; Daughters Delores Smith and Betty Gibbs of Athol, Ma.; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  6 brothers and 2 sisters predeceased her.
