{"id":259,"date":"2019-01-05T19:07:11","date_gmt":"2019-01-05T19:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canaanlibrary.org\/history\/?p=259"},"modified":"2019-01-05T19:07:11","modified_gmt":"2019-01-05T19:07:11","slug":"agnes-emma-smith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/canaanlibrary.org\/history\/?p=259","title":{"rendered":"Agnes Emma Smith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>from the August 9, 1995 issue of The Country Chronicle<\/p>\n<p>Canaan, NH&#8211;Agnes Emma Smith, 90, died Thursday, August 3, 1995 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.\u00a0 She was born in Canaan, NH January 29, 1905, the daughter of the late Eugene &amp; Sarah Pearl (Barney) Emerson.\u00a0 She attended Canaan schools and had lived in the area for most of her life and had worked for many years in the Mica Shop in Canaan.\u00a0 She not only raised her own children, but also raised a grandson-Joseph Chase and a niece-Brenda (Emerson) Davis.\u00a0 Her greatest loves were her family, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home in Enfield Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. and funeral service were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Canaan United Methodist Church.\u00a0 Burial followed in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan with the Rev.\u00a0 Philip Anderson officiating.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers the family requested that contributions be made to the Canaan F.A.S.T.
