Pontes Jr."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the April 17, 1996<\/p>\n<p>Canaan, NH&#8211;Antone R. Pontes, 70, died Wednesday April 3, 1996 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.\u00a0 He was born in Fall River, MA February 10, 1926, the son of the late Antone R.\u00a0 &amp; Mary E.\u00a0 (Cotta) Pontes Sr.\u00a0 He was raised in Little Compton, RI and later lived in Bristol, CT while employed by Pratt and Whitney in Southington, CT retiring after 35 years of service.\u00a0 Mr.\u00a0 Pontes was a U.S.\u00a0 Navy Veteran of WWII and had served in the Pacific Theatre.\u00a0 He was a member f D.A.V.\u00a0 and the American Leagion.<\/p>\n<p>He had been a resident of west Canaan since 1991.\u00a0 He was married to Glenda (Froloch) who died February 26, 1993.<\/p>\n<p>There were no calling hours.\u00a0 A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20th at 10 a.m. in St.\u00a0 Catherine&#8217;s Church of Little Compton, RI.\u00a0 Burial will be in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery in Little Compton.\u00a0 Arrangements are under the direction of the Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon, NH.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors include:\u00a0 a brother, Gilbert R.\u00a0 Pontes of Little Compton, RI; a sister, Eugenia &#8220;Janice&#8221; Nickerson of Little Compton, RI; a step-son, James Arthur of PA; two nieces and five nephews.\u00a0 He was preceded in death by his wife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the April 17, 1996 Canaan, NH&#8211;Antone R.
