{"id":315,"date":"2019-01-05T19:07:29","date_gmt":"2019-01-05T19:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/canaanlibrary.org\/history\/?p=315"},"modified":"2019-01-05T19:07:29","modified_gmt":"2019-01-05T19:07:29","slug":"esther-dorst-caruso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canaanlibrary.org\/history\/?p=315","title":{"rendered":"Esther Dorst-Caruso"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>from the November 15, 1995 issue of The Country Chronicle<\/p>\n<p>Canaan, NH&#8211;Esther Dorst-Caruso, 84, died on Saturday, November 4, 1985 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.\u00a0 Born in Whitingham, VT on October 6, 1911, the daughter of John and Edith (Fowler) Dorst.\u00a0 She attended schools in Whitingham, VT and later graduated from business college as a bookkeeper.\u00a0 She worked in the woolen mills in Vermont before marrying William G.\u00a0 Caruso in 1945.\u00a0 They lived in Williamstown, MA, Westbury, NY, New Milford, CT, and retired to Brandon, VT in 1973.\u00a0 In 1989 they moved to Canaan to be closer to their family.\u00a0 Mrs.\u00a0 Caruso served as a pianist for the Baptist Churches in all communities they lived in and was a member of the Brandon, VT Baptist Church.\u00a0 She served as a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader in in Westbury, NY and worked with her husband at the AGFA GEVAERT Film Company in Massachuesetts.\u00a0 She enjoyed gardening and was a devoted wife and mother.<\/p>\n<p>Graveside services were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan with the Rev.
