Charlestown, NH–Mrs.\u00a0 Avis H.\u00a0 Laramie, 81, of 89 West Street, Charlestown, died Wednesday evening February 21, 1996 at the Valley Regional Hospital after a long illness.\u00a0 She was born in Grafton, NH on June 10, 1914 the daughter of Guy C.\u00a0 and Ethel P.\u00a0 (Frazier) Haskins and had resided in Charlestown for fifty years and wintered in Vero Beach, FL for sixteen years.<\/p>\n
She was a graduate of Keene Normal School and taught grammar school in West Canaan and Charlestown for a short time and also did private tutoring in Charlestown.\u00a0 She worked at Jones & Lamson Machine in Springfield, VT for five years in the late forties as a key punch operator.\u00a0 Mrs.\u00a0 Laramie was a very active member of the Charlestown\u00a0 Congregational Church having been instrumental in starting The Thrift Shop at the church.\u00a0 She was also a Deaconess and a member of Fort Four Association, Charlestown Grange #204, trustee for the library, Welcome Wagon Hostess, and many years active with the Girls Scouts.<\/p>\n
The family includes her husband Kenneth Norman Laramie of Charlestown, whom she married on May 25, 1941; one daughter, Sidney Ellen Laramie of LaMesa, CA; one sister, Frances Plasmati of Deltona, FL; and nieces and nephews.\u00a0 She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Roxie Boone and Rita Webster and one brother, E. Sam Haskins.<\/p>\n
A memorial service was held Tuesday afternoon, Feb.\u00a0 27th at 2 p.m.\u00a0 at the Charlestown Congretional Church with Ray Ellis officiating.\u00a0 Interment will be at a later date in the Grafton Center Cemetery in Grafton, NH.\u00a0 A time of fellowship will be held in the Pine Room of the church after services.\u00a0 The family requested that donations be made in her memory to the Charlestown Congregational Church Memorial Fund, PO Box E, Charlestown, NH\u00a0 03603.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
