She was born May 14, 1914, in Leominster, MA, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Ide) Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was married to Oswald Hamel on Sept. 28, 1936, and had been employed as a registered nurse at Ayer (MA) Community Hospital.  She and her husband moved to Orange in 1959.  Mr. Hamel died in 1985.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mrs. Hamel was an active member of Canaan Home Extension Group and will be remembered as a talented craftsperson and patient teacher, who inspired many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is survived by three sons, Paul F. Hamel of Avondale Estates, GA, Allen J. Hamel of Canaan, and Gary J. Hamel of Orange; five grandchildren and a great grandchild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will be no funeral services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memorial contributions may be made to Mascoma Home Health Service, PO Box 118, Canaan, NH 03741.
