Florence Goodwin Tupper: On November 22, 1993 at 3 p.m., Florence Goodwin Tupper (89) passed away quietly at her home in Enfield, surrounded by five generations of her family.\u00a0 Born on October 17, 1904 in East Corinth, Vermont, she was the daughter of Pliny Goodwin and Flora Cadarette.<\/p>\n
She graduated from Dow Academy in 1923 and had been a resident of Enfield most of her life.\u00a0 She was married to Charles L. Tupper in 1925, Mr. Tupper died in 1979.\u00a0 She and her husband owned and operated a filling station in Mont Calm on the old Stoney Brook Road for several years.\u00a0 They also ran a dairy farm in Enfield for many years.\u00a0 She was later employed by the Enfield Woolen Mill as a spinner.\u00a0 She was a journalist for the Enfield newspapers for many years.\u00a0 She was very active in Enfield Town affairs, serving on various committees including the long-range school committee, which was responsible for building the Mascoma Valley Regional High School, the planning committee, and the zoning board of adjustment.\u00a0 She was also chairman of the Enfield Democratic Party for several years and served as a delegate to a National Convention in Washington, D.C.\u00a0 Mrs. Tupper served as Overseer Of The Poor in Enfield for 15 years and was a ballot clerk for 35 years.\u00a0 She was a member of the Mont Calm Grange, the Rebekahs and the Enfield Community Church.\u00a0 She was very devoted to her family.<\/p>\n
Graveside services were held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Lakeview Cemetery in Enfield.\u00a0 The family suggested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to: Mascoma Home Health Services, Church St., Canaan, NH; Hospice of the Upper Valley, Mt. Support Road, Lebanon, N.H.; or Canaan Meals on Wheels, Senior Center, Canaan, NH.<\/p>\n
Survivors include a daughter, Fran Perillo from Enfield; a son, Clinton \u201cBucky\u201d Tupper from Brandon, Florida; a sister, Sylvia Clark from River View, Florida; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
