Norma A. Stewart

Lebanon, NH–Norma Adele Stewart, 78, died June 19, 2003 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Canaan, NH on June 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Clifton & Doris (Columbia) Davis. She grew up in Canaan, and was in the Class of 1944. She was married to Rankin A. Stewart on May 10, 1933 in Keene, NH. She and her husband worked on the Stewart Farm for many years. She enjoyed wildlife, reading, embroidery and collecting cow memorabilia. She had a great love for children.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1933; her parents; and 2 brothers: Gene C. Davis and Richard H. Davis.

Survivors include a son: David A. Stewart of Enfield, NH; 4 daughters: Nancy Hall of Enfield, Linda Downing of S. Royalton, VT, Carol Seamans of Enfield, NH and Barbara Gowing of Bethel, VT; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24 at 1:00 pm in the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon with burial to follow in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan.

Gene Clifton Davis

Canaan, NH–Gene Clifton Davis, 68, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Canaan, NH on May 17, 1930, the son of the late Clifton I. & Doris (Columbia) Davis. A lifelong Canaan resident, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Canaan High School – Class of 1948. He had been employed as a custodian for the Canaan schools and also by the former Baltic Mills. For over 30 years he owned and operated Davis Oil Service in Canaan until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cutting wood, maple sugaring, baking, and Canaan town history. He was married July 2, 1957 to Edith (Doe).

Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home, Route 4 in Enfield, Saturday evening from 7-9pm. Graveside Committal Services will be held at a later date in the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, NH.

Donald E. Davis

Enfield, NH–Donald E. Davis, 64, died Thursday, February 11th, at his home in Enfield.

He was born November 28, 1934, in Alexandria, NH son of Richard G. Davis and Ida M. Baxter, attended Upper Valley schools , and was employed at James C. Campion & Sons in Hanover for 20 years.

On October 24, 1970, he was married to Catherine Hibbard. In 1980, they opened Cathi & Don’s Country Store in Enfield, which he was still operating at the time of his death.

Mr. Davis loved dogs, feeding birds and deer, collecting coins and classic cars, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Enfield; four sons, Keven M. and Donald E. Jr., both of Enfield, Michael K. and Anthony C. both of Canaan, a daughter, Pamela L. Nadeau of Canaan; a brother, Richard Davis of Lebanon; three sisters, Dorothy D. Harten of Springfield, VT, Maryann Stone of Shamokin, PA, and Cindy E. Eames of Wilder; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Monday from 7-9 pm at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am at La Salette Shrine Chapel in Enfield. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield in the spring.
