Orange, NH–Graveside Committal Services for Harry E. Powell, who died March 11, 2000 at the age of 97, will be held Saturday April 29 at 2 pm in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Grafton, NH. The Rev. Patricia Williams will officiate. The Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.

Orange, NH–Harry Powell, 97, died on Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the McCoy Nursing Home in Newport following a long illness. He was born in Danbury, NH on May 18, 1902, a son of the late Oria and Carrie (Wescott) Powell. He lived 18 years on the Height of the Land area in Grafton, NH, before moving to Orange, where he spent most of his life as a logger. He had also worked in the Baltic Woolen Mills in Enfield, and was a former road agent for the town of Orange. He loved animals and kept a small farm in Orange. He was married May 15, 1923 to Martha R. (Brown) Powell.

Mr. Powell is survived by: Barbara Dauphiniais, daughter, of Grafton, NH; Ruby McAllister and Rose Buckwold, daughters, of Canaan; Arlene Normandin, daughter, of Hillsboro, NH; Louise O’Shea, daughter, of North Pole, Alaska; many nieces, nephews and cousins; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: Martha R. Powell, wife, who died Oct. 7, 1984; Walter R. Powell, son, who died June 30, 1988; Laura Ford, daughter, who died December 26, 1996; Florence, sister; Thurman Powell, brother; Harold Decato, half-brother, and Ora, Doris and Bernice, half-sisters.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St., Lebanon, NH, on Monday evening, March 13th, from 7-9 pm.

Graveside services will be held in the spring in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Grafton, NH.

Laura Irene Ford

Canaan, NH–Laura Irene Ford, 61, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 1996 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Grafton, NH May 6, 1935, the daughter of Harry & Martha (Brown) Powell, and had lived in the Upper Valley for most of her life. She was married to Roland Ford who died in 1989. She had been employed by the Baltic Mills; KLEEN Laundry; and the International Packing Co. of Bristol, NH. She loved dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and loved to make quilts as gifts.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Survivors include: her companion, Leslie Hackeman of Canaan; her father, Harry Powell; a sister, Rose Buckwold of Canaan; a sister, Louise O’Shea of North Pole, AK; a sister, Barbara Dauphinais of Grafton, NH; a sister, Ruby McAllister of Canaan; a sister, Arlene Normandia of Hillsborough, NH; a step-daughter, Carole Quimby of White River Jct., VT; a step-daughter, Helen Pashalidis of Succasunna, NJ; s step-son, Joe Ford of Lebanon, NH; nieces and nephews.
