Harry E. Powell

Orange, NH–Harry Powell, 97, died on Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the McCoy Nursing Home in Newport following a long illness. He was born in Danbury, NH on May 18, 1902, a son of the late Oria and Carrie (Wescott) Powell. He lived 18 years on the Height of the Land area in Grafton, NH, before moving to Orange, where he spent most of his life as a logger. He had also worked in the Baltic Woolen Mills in Enfield, and was a former road agent for the town of Orange. He loved animals and kept a small farm in Orange. He was married May 15, 1923 to Martha R. (Brown) Powell.

Mr. Powell is survived by: Barbara Dauphiniais, daughter, of Grafton, NH; Ruby McAllister and Rose Buckwold, daughters, of Canaan; Arlene Normandin, daughter, of Hillsboro, NH; Louise O’Shea, daughter, of North Pole, Alaska; many nieces, nephews and cousins; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: Martha R. Powell, wife, who died Oct. 7, 1984; Walter R. Powell, son, who died June 30, 1988; Laura Ford, daughter, who died December 26, 1996; Florence, sister; Thurman Powell, brother; Harold Decato, half-brother, and Ora, Doris and Bernice, half-sisters.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St., Lebanon, NH, on Monday evening, March 13th, from 7-9 pm.

Graveside services will be held in the spring in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Grafton, NH.
