Lebanon, NH–Laura Elizabeth (Blain) Fortier, 93, died Sunday, June 16, 2002 at the Alice Peck Day Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Dorchester, NH December 9, 1908, a daughter of the late Raoul & Alice (Simard) Blain. A lifelong area resident, she was married to Joseph A. Fortier Sr., who died Dec 8, 1979. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish of Lebanon and the Catholic Daughters of America.

For many years she worked in the family business: J.A. Fortier, Inc. – a local bottled gas and appliance business. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo and slot machines.

She was predeceased by her husband; 3 sisters: Lillian Jette, Irene LeBlanc and Rosetta Boudrea; and 5 brothers: Conrad, Maurice, Raymond, Gerard and Robert Blain.

Survivors include a daughter: Rita A. Dowling of Forest, VA; 2 sons: Joseph A. Fortier Jr. of Lincoln, VT and Raymond A. Fortier of Long Island, NY; a sister: Rita R. LeBlanc of Largo, FL; a brother: Arthur Blain of Enfield, NH; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St, Lebanon on Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 am in the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Yvonne Stella Blain

Enfield, NH–Yvonne Stella Blain, 97, died Wednesday, July 28,1999 at the Alice Peck Day Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, NH.

She was born in Canaan, NH, April 1, 1902, the daughter of the late Samuel & Eugena (Patrie) Dupuis and had been an area resident all her life.

She was married to Wilfred F. Blain on Oct. 22, 1922. Mr. Blain died May 2, 1984. Much of her life was devoted to life on the farm raising her 7 children. She was a member of St. Helena’s Church of Enfield; the Grange; and the Senior Citizens Center.

There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The Ricker Funeral home of Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.

Roxbury, NH–Florence M. Selby, 73, of Roxbury, NH died May 28,1999 at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH.

She was born in Dorchester, NH on Nov. 8, 1925, and the daughter of Wilfred and Yvonne (Dupris) Blain. She attended school in Canaan and Enfield and graduated from Enfield High School in 1944. She moved to Keene around 1956 and also lived in Melbourne, FL. She moved to Roxbury about 12 years ago.

Survivors include her mother Yvonne Blain of Lebanon. A son, Robert Selby of Keene; a daughter, Carol Carmier of Roxbury; four brothers, Wilfred Blain, Richard Blain, John Blain all of Enfield, NH and Francis Blain of Melbourne; two sisters, Euginia Hall of Enfield and Yvonne Wescott of Las Cruces, NM; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at St. Mary Cemetery in Claremont at the convenience of the family. The Fletcher Funeral Home in Keene is in charge of arrangements.
