Marjorie C. Grace

Lebanon, NH–Marjorie C. Grace, 55, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at her home in Lebanon, NH following a long illness. She was born in Hanover, NH August 14, 1947, a daughter of Frederick and Evelyn (Wheeler) Charbono. A resident of the Upper Valley all of her life, she was a graduate of Mascoma Valley Regional High School. For many years she was employed by Whitman Communications. She enjoyed cats and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Velvet Grace of Canaan, NH and Stacia Hall of Virginia Beach, VA; 3 brothers: Lawrence Charbono of Enfield, Stanley Charbono and Ronald Charbono both of Sun City, AZ; 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister: Jacqueline O’Donnell.

Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St. in Lebanon, NH Thursday evening from 7-9. A memorial service was held in the funeral home Friday morning at 11.

Elmer H. Grace

Danbury, NH–Elmer H. Grace, 78, of High Street, died Sunday, February 28, 1999 at the New London Hospital suddenly. He as born in Canaan, NH on Aug. 3, 1920, the son of George and Lottie (Osborne) Grace. He had lived in Danbury since 1952 previously residing in Canaan, NH. Mr. Grace had been employed by the State of NH; local contractors; the Highland Ski Area in Northfield for many years and by E.D. Swett Construction for several years retiring in 1983. He was a former Fire Chief of Danbury. Members of his family survivng include his wife of 46 years, Pauline E. (Martin) Grace of Danbury, NH; three sons, Ronald Grace of Canaan, NH, Tracy B. Hines of Errol, NH and Terry L. Hines of Whitefield, NH; a daughter, Shirley Greene of Lebanon, NH; several grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a twin brother, Elwin Grace of Canaan, NH; other brothers, Donald Grace of Thornton, NH and George Grace, Jr. of Canaan, NH; a sister, Doris Crate of Plainfield, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services were held on Wed., March 3, 1999 at 2:00 pm in the Riverdale Cemetery, Danbury, NH with the Rev. Charles Higgins, officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Danbury F.A.S.T. Squad, RFD 1 Box 188A, Danbury, NH 03230. Chadwick Funeral Service of New London, NH is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Helen Sears

Enfield, NH–Frances Helen Sears, 87, died Friday February 13, 1998 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Springfield, NH, May 9, 1910, the daughter of the late George Alfred & Lottie Ellen (Osborne) Grace, Sr. She was married Oct. 30, 1941 to Joseph Hurshell Sears who passed away May 10, 1979. Frances had worked at the Smith Mica Shop in Canaan, NH; made flowers and sewed doll clothes at home; worked at H.W. Carter’s overall shop in Lebanon for 16 years; and sewed for the Hanover Inn and the Hanover Terrace. She loved gardening, painting pictures, making quilts, doing things for others; and she dearly loved her family. She was a warm, caring, loving person and never had a bad word to say about anybody.

Survivors include: a son, Joseph Hurshell Sears, Jr., Enfield; 2 daughters, Frances (Sears) Lassen, Enfield, Lottie (Sears) Shippen, Enfield; 4 brothers, Elmer Grace, Danbury, NH, Elwin Grace, Orange, NH, Donald Grace, Campton, NH, George Grace, Jr., Canaan, NH; 2 sisters, Doris Crate, East Plainfield, NH, Evelyn Bentley, Bradenton, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hurshell Sears; her father George Alfred Grace, Sr.; her mother, Lottie Ellen (Osborne) Grace; a grandson, Jody Sears, Sr.; 3 brothers, Alfred Grace, Wesley Grace, Howard Grace; 2 sisters, Bertha Withington and Hazel Reed.

Burial will be in the spring at the Wells Cemetery in Canaan, NH. Arrangments were made by the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon, NH.

Mary Frances Grace

Orange, NH–Mary Frances Grace, 76, died Saturday, February 22, 1997 at Genesis Elder Care in Lebanon, NH following a long illness. She was born in Lynn, MA September 28, 1920, the daughter of Dr. Frank & Edith (Lister) Mitchell. She attended schools in Grafton and Canaan, NH. She had lived in this area most of her life and had been a member of the Mt. Cardigan Square Dance Club. She was married to Elwin H. Grace–her husband of 56 years–in 1941. She was a homemaker all of her life and was dedicated to her family.

Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home, Route 4 in Enfield on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Canaan United Methodist Church. Burial will be at a later date in the Canaan Street Cemetery.

Survivors include: her husband, Elwin H. Grace of Orange; a daughter, Jean Ollis of Enfield; a daughter, Linda Lashua of Canaan; her twin sister, Jeanne Evans of Canaan; a sister, Dottie Lull of Potter Place, NH; a sister, Bernice Houze of Franklin; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Allan Mitchell.

She was married to George A. Grace on April 12, 1952 and they have resided in Canaan. Mrs. Grace had been employed as a seamstress at H.W. Carter & Sons. Carter & Churchhill, and Profile Skiwear for many years before going to work in the kitchen and cafeteria of the Canaan Schools.

She loved camping and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Canaan Grange, The Franklin V.F.W., Women’s Auxiliary #1698, and the Sunshine Chapter of the Good Sam Camping Club of Newport. Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home on School Street in Lebanon on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services were held at the funeral home in Lebanon on Saturday at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Patricia Williams officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at a later date in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Canaan Fast Squad Ambulance Fund, c/o Linda Lashua, Canaan, NH 03741.
