Geraldine Rita “Dolly” Ireton

Canaan, NH–Geraldine R. Ireton, 69, died at her home Wednesday morning, January 22, 1997 following a long illness. She was born in Lebanon, NH Oct. 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Harold & Blanche (Kimball) Roy. She attended local schools and was a lifelong area resident. For many years she had been employed by various area restaurants. She was also a transportation dispatcher for the Lebanon Senior Center. A favorite hobby was collecting knickknacks that she would find at flea markets and yard sales.

There were no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Lebanon Senior Center, 10 Campbell St., Lebanon, NH 03766.

Survivors include: her husband, John J. Ireton of Canaan; a sister, Mabel Griggs of Lebanon, NH. She was preceded in death by a sister, Roxie, and a brother, Clayton. The Ricker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He attended Lebanon Schools.  IN 1943 he entered the US Navy serving during WWII.  Following the war he returned to Lebanon and was employed by Goodyear Rubber Company of Windsor, VT.  He was married to Guelda Bellimer in Lebanon on July 7, 1949.  Mr. Roy worked at Dartmouth College in Hanover as a security guard for many years.  He later worked at the Lebanon Post Office for 18 years retiring in 1986.  He was a member of the Franklin Lodge #6, F & A.M. of Lebanon, Washington Council # 10 of Lebanon, and Bektash Shriners Temple of Concord, NH.  He was also a life member of the White River Rost # 2571 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A Funeral service was held Monday at 10:00 AM in the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. Richard N. Slater officiating.  Burial with full military honors followed in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
