Dorothy F. Packard

Lebanon, NH–Dorothy F. Packard, 79, died Wednesday evening February 7, 2001 at the Lebanon Center of Genesis Eldercare in Lebanon, NH following a long illness. She was born in Canaan, NH November 13, 1921, and was the last surviving of 9 children home to the late George & Lucy (Senacal) Decato. A resident of Lebanon for most of her life, she attended local schools and was married to the Donald A. Packard who died in 1983. She had been employed by the former Rockdale Store and by KLEEN Laundry of Lebanon Emblem Club and a longtime volunteer at the Lebanon Senior Center. She loved baking, crocheting and many other crafts.

She was predeceased by her husband: Donald A. Packard; Son: Robert A. Packard Sr.; 2 sisters: Stella Williams and Etta Fontaine; 6 brothers: Eugene Decato, James Decato, Edgar Decato, Forest Decato, Harry Decato and Clarence Decato; and a grandson: Robert A. Packard Jr.

She leaves 2 daughters: Stella Butterfield of Canaan, NH and Marie Jenkins of Lebanon, NH; 4 granchildren: Mark Packard of Orange, NH, Donald Butterfield of Canaan, NH, Daniel Butterfield of Royal Oaks, MI and Jeffrey Jenkins of Lebanon, NH; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St. in Lebanon, NH Sunday from 3-4 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 11 am in the Sacred Heart Church of Lebanon. Burial will be in the spring in the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon, NH.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy be made to: The Lebanon Senior Center, PO Box X33, Lebanon, NH 03766 or to: The American Diabetes Association, 249 Canal St., Manchester, NH 03101.

Althea King Decato

Lebanon, NH–Althea King Decato, 80, passed away on April 28, 1997 at the Alice Peck Day Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, NH. The daughter of Rolland Delancy King and Josephine Segrid Monell, she was born in Canaan, NH on December 15,1916. She attended Canaan schools and was a graduate of Canaan High School. She later graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. She was married to Gleason C. Decato, Sr. in January of 1938. Mr. Decato died in 1987. She had been a resident of Canaan most of her life and had been employed by the Canaan Reporter Newspaper. In 1976 she moved to Lebanon and was employed as a sales clerk at Currier & Company of Lebanon until the stores closing. She was a member of the Canaan Women’s Club, The United Methodist Women, and had sung in the church choir. While in Lebanon, she attended the First Baptist Church.

There were no calling hours. Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Canaan with burial following in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan.

Survivors include: a son, Thomas P. Decato of Lebanon; a son, Gleason C. Decato Jr. of Orange; a daughter, Priscilla Boissoneault of Fairfax, VT; a daughter, Alicia Lowe of Hyde Park, VT; a daughter, Penelope F. Bagalio of Barre, VT; a sister, Lily Clark of Lucerne Valley, CA; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were made by the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon.

Yvonne L. DeCato

West Canaan, NH – Yvonne L. DeCato, 82 died at her home on Goose Pond Road in West Canaan, Thursday afternoon April 28, 1994.  She was born in Providence, RI July 6, 1911, the daughter of the late Louis & Laura (Saunier) Beaudry.  She grew up in Rhode Island where she attended schools and later became a Piano Instructor.  She was married to Harold Harry DeCato in 1932 and moved to West Canaan where they operated the Busy Bea Farm until 1967 when they retired to Goose Pond Road.  Mr. DeCato died March 22, 1988.

Mrs. DeCato was a communicant of St. Helena’s Church of Enfield and was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.  She was active with the Canaan P.T.A.; enjoyed crafts and sewing; and found her greatest love in her family.

There were no calling hours.  A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the St. Helena’s Church in Enfield.  Burial followed in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canaan.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, 125 Mascoma St., Lebanon, NH 03766.  Survivors include: her daughter, Claudine H. Shadowens of West Canaan; a daughter, Donna Ross of Burlington, CT and West Canaan; a son, Clifford DeCato of Abington, PA; a sister, Irene Hopkins of Rhode Island; a sister, Alice Okon of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Emil Beaudry of Greenville, RI; a sister, Beatrice Walden of Westboro, MA; a sister, Ann Marott of New Orleans, LA; a brother, Donald Beaudry of El Cajon, CA; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold H. DeCato in 1988, a son, Francis DeCato in 1987 and a sister, Aurice Myers.

The Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon was in charge of arrangements.
