Lebanon, NH–Mary E. Brown, 80, died Thursday August 15, 2002, a Genesis ElderCare in Lebanon, NH.

She was born in Hudson, MA on March 31, 1922, a daughter of Perley W. and Grace (Davis) Wheeler.

A longtime area resident, she was employed at Profile Skiwear for several years, and, for more than 30 years, was a manager of Beverage King in West Lebanon.

She was a member of Mascoma Valley Pomona Grange. And a seventh-degree member of Lebanon Grange No. 125, where she had held several offices, including master. She loved sewing, bingo, cooking, serving suppers at the grange, hosting card parties and the company of friends.

Survivors include five daughters: Ruth Gray and Rita Ryan both of Weirsdale, FL, Rose Welch of Heverhill, Joyce Greene of Claremont and Irene Chamberlin of Lebanon; two sons: Daniel Brown of Bennington, VT and William Brown of Enfield; five sisters, four brothers; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Graveside committal services were held Sunday at 1:00 pm at Glenwood Cemetery in Lebanon, with the Rev. Virginia Fryer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748-4207. Arrangements were by Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Resident of this area all his life where he attended Canaan and Enfield Schools. He was employed at Baltic Woolen Mills in Enfield and later worked as a meat cutter. He drove the Butcher Wagon, a meat delivery business in Enfield for several years. Later, he went to work for Ward Bakery in White River Junction where he was a Route Salesman for over 20 years. He was married to Marguerite Evans March 12, 1938 and they had made their home in Enfield. He was a 60 Plus year life member of the Hartford Lodge of Elks and a past member of the Lebanon Moose Lodge. Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM. An Elks Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home in Lebanon. Following cremation burial will be at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield. Mildred Dorothy Bailey Baker

Enfield, NH–Mildred Dorothy Bailey Barker, 86, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997 at the Alice Peck Day Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Canaan, NH Oct. 15, 1911, the daughter of the late Alvy E. & Lena Rose (Bill) Wheeler, and attended Canaan schools. She had been employed by the former Sharkey’s Bakery of Lebanon; the Baltic Woolen Mills of Enfield; as a cook in the hot lunch program of the Enfield school system; and was bookkeeper for her first husband’s business, the former May Street Garage in Enfield. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was well known for the meals she prepared and the baked goods and wedding cakes she made and decorated for many family members and friends. Mildred was a 50 year member of the Rebekah’s of Enfield, and a member of the Enfield United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was married to Clarence W. Bailey Sr., who died in 1987. She later married Roy “Skip” Barker on Jan. 6, 1990.

Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home in Enfield on Sunday evening from 7-9 pm. Funeral services were conducted on Monday at 11 am in the Enfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Patricia Williams officiated. Burial will be in the spring in the Lakeview Cemetery in Enfield, NH.

Survivors include: her husband, Roy “Skip” Barker of Enfield; a daughter, Dorothy M. Stark of Enfield; a son, James E. Bailey of Greenfield, MA; a step-son, Fred F. Barker of Enfield; a step-daughter, Joyce Noyes of Littleton, NH; a brother, Donald Wheeler of Enfield; a brother, Wilfred Wheeler of Enfield; a brother, Richard Wheeler of Enfield; a brother, Daniel Wheeler of Rockville, CT; a sister, Rena Smardon of Newport, NH; a sister, Marion Ibey of Enfield; a sister, Madeline Evans of Arizona; a sister, Eleanor Cantlin of Enfield; a sister, Arlene Evans of AZ; eight grand and three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grand and one step-great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Clarence W. Bailey Sr. in 1987; a son, Clarence W. Bailey Jr. in 1990; a brother, Eugene Wheeler; a brother, Clifton Wheeler; a brother, Bertrum Wheeler; and a sister, Evelyn Charbono.

Evelyn Mina Wheeler

Canaan,NH–Evelyn Mina Wheeler, 74, died at her home Tuesday evening, May 27, 1997. She was born in Williston, VT Aug. 14, 1922, the daughter of Dayton and Berth (Davis) Atchinson. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Hartford High School. She worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone for several years. She was married to Wilfred Wheeler on June 20, 1942 and they made their home in Enfield, NH. She worked at the Baltic Mills in Enfield before coming a cook at the Enfield Village School where she worked for many years. She later worked as a secretary for Dartmouth College Campus Police until retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Enfield United Methodist Church.
