William O. Neily Sr.

Canaan, NH– William O. Neily Sr., 85, died Saturday night November 16, 2002 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Canaan Center, NH January 16, 1917, a son of the late Blanche (Butman) & August B. Neily Sr. A lifelong resident of Canaan Ctr., he attended local schools and played football for Canaan High School. He worked for the C.C.C. Camps during the Great Depression. Later he was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor, VT retiring after more than 35 years of service. Mr. Neily loved baseball and the Red Sox; his beautiful and often photographed flower gardens; and reading.

He was predeceased by five sisters: Eleanor Picard, Violet Fields, Florence Levesque, Charlotte Neily, and Caroline Woodbury; and two brothers: Harry Neily and Wesley Neily.

Survivors include his wife: Doris Buckman of Canaan, NH; four children: William O. Neily Jr. of Springfield, MA, Gayle Cook of Franklin, NH, Stephen E. Neily of Lakeworth, FL, and Patricia E. Downing of North Augusta, SC; a sister: Irene Dulac of Lebanon, NH; a brother: August Neily Jr. of Canaan, NH; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, 433 US Rte 4, Enfield, NH Wednesday morning from 10-11 am. Funeral services will follow at 11 am in the funeral home with the Rev. Glen Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, NH.

Eleanor Grace Picard

Lebanon, NH–Eleanor G. Picard, 83, of Lebanon, died on Sunday, June 23, 2002 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She was born in Canaan Center, NH on February 12, 1919 a daughter of August B. and Blanche S. (Butman) Neily. She attended Canaan schools and was married to Ernest “John” Picard on August 16, 1941. She worked as a Drawer in the Mascoma Mills and retired from Dartmouth Woolen as a Spooler. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon.

She is survived by her husband Ernest, three daughters: Beverly Ann Woodward of Lebanon, Mary Ann Sharpe of Hopkinton, NH, Jane Lee Winfield of Sparta, NJ; two brothers: William O. Neily and August B. Neily both of Canaan Center; a sister: Irene Dulac of Lebanon; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers Wesley and Harry, and sisters Violet Field, Florence Levasque, Charlotte Neily and Caroline Woodbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday at 1 pm at the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon. Burial followed in the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 482, Lebanon, NH 03766.

Caroline Neily Woodbury

Canaan, NH–Caroline Neily Woodbury, 74, passed away early Friday, May 7, 1999, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born August 16, 1924 in Canaan Center, NH, one of ten children born to August B. and Blanche (Butman) Neily. She graduated from Canaan High School in 1942.

She was married to John S. Woodbury on October 12, 1946 in Exeter, NH. They lived in West Lebanon and Lebanon, where she worked at Split Ballbearing, retiring after many years.

Caroline lived her life enthusiastically and to the fullest; taking great pride and joy in family and friends, especially her four grandchildren. She also found great pleasure in her love of art, becoming an accomplished artist through the years.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Ernie Plumb of Andover, VT and Ann and Kevin Cattabriga of Canaan; four grandchildren; Daniel Plumb, Miranda Plumb, Mathew Cattabriga and Meghan Cattabriga; two sisters, Eleanor Ricard and Irene Dulac of Lebanon; two brothers, Bill Neily and August Neily of Canaan; many nieces, nephews and a several very close friends.

Calling hours will be held Monday, May 10 from 7-9 pm at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday May 11 at 2 pm; followed by burial at the West Lebanon Cemetery at a later date.

Harold K. “Homer” Neily

Canaan, NH–Harold K. Neily, 61, died Friday, May 22, 1998 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Canaan, NH on January 24, 1937, the son of the late Wesley and Coletta (Beaton) Neily. A lifelong Canaan resident, he was a graduate of Canaan High School Class of 1955. He had been employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor, VT for over 25 years, retiring at the time of its closing in 1987. He was an avid reader and baseball fan, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. He dearly loved his children and his grandchildren. He was married to Joanne Allen on October 12, 1963.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, Route 4 in Enfield, NH, Wednesday May 27, at 1:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Schwamb officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Street Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: The Canaan F.A.S.T. Squad, Canaan, NH 03741.

Survivors include: wife, Joanne (Allen) Neily, Canaan; daughters, Pam Caldwell, of Boscawen, Adriane Poland, of Grafton, and Donna Neily, of Canaan; a son, Jeffrey Neily, of Canaan; sisters, Nancy Plummer, Garnet Neily, Starr Kilgore and Evelyn Seamans, all of Canaan; brothers, Patrick Jameson, of Canaan, and Stephen Horsfield, of Grantham; a grandson, Aaron Poland, of Grafton; a granddaughter, Jessica Poland of Grafton; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceeded in death by: father, Wesley Neily, who died Jan. 1, 1976, and mother, Coletta P. Neily, who died May 3, 1998.
