Yvonne L. DeCato

West Canaan, NH – Yvonne L. DeCato, 82 died at her home on Goose Pond Road in West Canaan, Thursday afternoon April 28, 1994.  She was born in Providence, RI July 6, 1911, the daughter of the late Louis & Laura (Saunier) Beaudry.  She grew up in Rhode Island where she attended schools and later became a Piano Instructor.  She was married to Harold Harry DeCato in 1932 and moved to West Canaan where they operated the Busy Bea Farm until 1967 when they retired to Goose Pond Road.  Mr. DeCato died March 22, 1988.

Mrs. DeCato was a communicant of St. Helena’s Church of Enfield and was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America.  She was active with the Canaan P.T.A.; enjoyed crafts and sewing; and found her greatest love in her family.

There were no calling hours.  A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the St. Helena’s Church in Enfield.  Burial followed in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Canaan.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, 125 Mascoma St., Lebanon, NH 03766.  Survivors include: her daughter, Claudine H. Shadowens of West Canaan; a daughter, Donna Ross of Burlington, CT and West Canaan; a son, Clifford DeCato of Abington, PA; a sister, Irene Hopkins of Rhode Island; a sister, Alice Okon of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Emil Beaudry of Greenville, RI; a sister, Beatrice Walden of Westboro, MA; a sister, Ann Marott of New Orleans, LA; a brother, Donald Beaudry of El Cajon, CA; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold H. DeCato in 1988, a son, Francis DeCato in 1987 and a sister, Aurice Myers.

The Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon was in charge of arrangements.
