William O. Neily Sr.

Canaan, NH– William O. Neily Sr., 85, died Saturday night November 16, 2002 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Canaan Center, NH January 16, 1917, a son of the late Blanche (Butman) & August B. Neily Sr. A lifelong resident of Canaan Ctr., he attended local schools and played football for Canaan High School. He worked for the C.C.C. Camps during the Great Depression. Later he was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor, VT retiring after more than 35 years of service. Mr. Neily loved baseball and the Red Sox; his beautiful and often photographed flower gardens; and reading.

He was predeceased by five sisters: Eleanor Picard, Violet Fields, Florence Levesque, Charlotte Neily, and Caroline Woodbury; and two brothers: Harry Neily and Wesley Neily.

Survivors include his wife: Doris Buckman of Canaan, NH; four children: William O. Neily Jr. of Springfield, MA, Gayle Cook of Franklin, NH, Stephen E. Neily of Lakeworth, FL, and Patricia E. Downing of North Augusta, SC; a sister: Irene Dulac of Lebanon, NH; a brother: August Neily Jr. of Canaan, NH; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, 433 US Rte 4, Enfield, NH Wednesday morning from 10-11 am. Funeral services will follow at 11 am in the funeral home with the Rev. Glen Carter officiating. Burial will be in the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, NH.
