Woodsville, NH–Joseph Paul Harper Sr., 70, died Sunday afternoon February 4, 2001 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born in Lebanon, NH May 14, 1930, a son of the late Joseph P. & Gladys (Amell) Harper. A lifelong resident of the Upper Valley, he was the owner/operator of Superior Painting & Decorating for many years.

He was predeceased by his former first wife: Joyce Leonard who died in 1995; and by his second wife: Ruby (Hutchins) Harper who died in 1981.

Survivors include 1 daughter: Charay Rogers of Woodsville, NH; 4 sons: Terry P. Harper of Littleton, NH; David R. Harper of Enfield Center, NH; Kenny Rogers of St. Johnsbury, VT; and Joseph P. Harper Jr. of Woodsville, NH; 2 sisters: Luella Grace of Lebanon, NH and Gladys Sanders of Cape Cod, MA; 2 brothers: Ernest Harper of Ascutney, VT and Richard Harper of Lebanon, NH; 8 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday morning at 11 am in the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St. in Lebanon, NH with the Rev. Patricia Williams officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Highland Cemetery in Lyme, NH.
