Carol L. Smith

from the July 12, 1995 issue of The Country Chronicle

Lebanon, NH–Carol L. Smith, 47, died Saturday morning, July 8, 1995 in the presence of her family and friends at her home after a long fight with cancer. Carol was born on March 9, 1948 in Hanover, NH to the late Maurice and Barbara  (Hardwood) LaCroix.  Carol was married to Kenneth R. Smith on July 15, 1967.  A lifelong resident of Lebanon, she was a 1967 graduate of Lebanon High School.  She worked at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital for 27 years in the business office and data processing where she received membership in the 25 Year Service Club.

Carol loved riding horse with her very special friend Carol Hoisington; her parrot and her many other animals.  She had a special love for all of her lifelong friends, and her special new friends at the First Baptist Church of Newport, NH.

God looked around His garden and found an empty place.  He looked down upon His earth and saw a tired face.  He knew you were in pain and would never again get well there on Earth.  He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest.  God’s garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the very best.

Carol knew that cancer CANNOT cripple love; shatter hope; corrode faith; eat away peace; destroy confidence; kill friendship; shut out memories; silence courage; reduce eternal life; squelch the spirit; and never lessen the power of the Resurrection.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon; burial followed in the West Lebanon Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to:  The Lebanon Hospice or The Visiting Nurse Alliance, c/o Hospice of the Upper Valley, 325 Mt. Support Road, Lebanon, NH  03766
