Gorden Allen Murphy

Enfield, NH–Gorden A. Murphy, 64, died Monday, January 6, 1997, at the Veteran’s Hospital in White River Jct., VT following a long illness. He was born in Lebanon, NH Nov. 2, 1932, the son of William Thomas Murphy, Sr. and Leafie May (Baker) Murphy, and attended Lebanon schools. A U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Wright. He had worked for Miller Ready Mix Concrete prior to becoming a self-employed trucker. He had been a resident of Enfield for the past 41 years and was a member of the American Legion of Lebanon, and the Lebanon Lodge of Elks. He was married to Dorothy Ruth (Wilmot) who died in 1990.

He will be remembered as a kind, gentle and caring husband, father and grandfather, and will never be forgotten by those who loved him.

There were no calling hours. Graveside Services will be held in the spring in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, NH.

Survivors include: Son, Daniel G. Murphy, Colfax, CA; Daughter, Deborah J. Cole, Lebanon, NH; Son, Dennis A. Murphy, Enfield, NH; Sister, Nonie Boisvert, Pittsfield, MA; Sister, Leafie I. Cantlin, Enfield, NH; Sister, Beverly Porter, White River Jct., VT; 7 Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: Wife, Dorothy Ruth (Wilmot) Murphy, died 1990; Brother, Clarence F. Murphy.
