Canaan, NH–Ellen Lucy (Cross) Gowing, 71, died Tuesday morning May 18, 1999 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. SHe had fought with illnesses including diabetes and high blood pressure following open-heart surgery in 1980.
Ellen was born in Canaan, NH September 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Pearle and Bertha (Grace) Cross and was a lifelong Canaan resident. She was married to Cecil C. Gowing on July 15, 1946. She had worked for Carter’s Overalls for 3 years and later was employed by the Baltic Woolen Mills for over 15 years. She enjoyed crafts, camping, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Warner officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, NH.
