Elmer M. Shuttleworth

Canaan, NH–Elmer Merton Shuttleworth, 81, of Canaan, died on Wednesday, June 12th at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct, VT. He was born in East Andover, NH on March 30, 1921, a son of Arthur and Florence (Atkins) Shuttleworth. He has lived on his family’s farm on Cider Mill Rd in Canaan since he was two years old. He was an engineer on the Boston & Maine Railroad and owned and operated Elmer’s Store and Pool Hall in Canaan for many years. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the USS Alabama. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars in White River Jct. and the Lebanon Lodge of Elks. He was known as an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his longtime companion Louise C. Poell of Concord, NH; a nephew, William Shuttleworth of New Jersey and many friends.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held next Sunday, June 23rd at 2:00 pm at the Shuttleworth Farm on Cider Mill Rd in Canaan.
