Emile I. Chouinard

West Lebanon, NH–Emile Joseph Chouinard, 91, died Wednesday February 12, 2003 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Enfield, NH June 30, 1911, a son of the late Joseph and Dora (DeCato) Chouinard. He had worked many years in several area woolen mills including the Baltic Mills in Enfield. He had also been employed by B&M Railroad, and by the Hanover Inn in Hanover, NH where he retired in 1977 as a carpenter. He was a member of St. Helena’s Parish of Enfield, the Knights of Columbus and the 50 Plus Club. Mr. Chouinard was a very active participant in Enfield community affairs. He was a regular attendee of Town Meetings, had served as a volunteer firefighter for many years and was an active member of the Enfield Historical Society. He had been a lifelong Enfield resident until moving to the Quail Hollow community in West Lebanon 3 years ago.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter Edna; a brother Edward Chouinard and a sister Arlene Chouinard both of Enfield. Survivors include his wife: Victoria (Godin) Chouinard of West Lebanon, NH; a son: Robert Chouinard of Lake Jackson, TX; a daughter and son-in-law: Joan and Jim Houghton of Chester, VT; a sister: Rena Perkins of Concord, NH; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (and expecting another in May).

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning Feb. 14 at 10:00 am in St. Helena’s Church in Enfield, NH. Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Palliative Care Program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Attn: Michele Clark, Office of Development, 1 Medical Center Dr., Lebanon, NH 03756.
