Canaan, NH–George Herbert Carr Sr., 69, died at his home in Canaan on Tuesday morning, Jan. 21, 1997 following a long illness. He was born in Hanover, NH May 30, 1933 the son of the late Harry D. and Alice I. (Marshall) Carr. A life-long resident of the Hanover/Canaan area, he had worked in construction for various area contractors for many years. He was married to Joyce (Dolloph) on June 14, 1952. He enjoyed animals, gardening, and especially his grandchildren.
Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home, 56 School St. in Lebanon Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Cecilia Engelhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Grafton, NH. The family requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to: The Canaan F.A.S.T. Squad, Canaan, NH 03741.
Survivors include: his wife, Joyce (Dolloph) Carr of Canaan; a son, George H. Carr Jr. of Canaan; a son, Mark A. Carr of Canaan; a daughter, Nora Boisvert of Grafton; a daughter, Terry Sturtevant of Canaan; a daughter, Sherry Penn of Canaan; a sister, Frances Carr of Hanover; a sister, Edith (Helen) Carr of Smithfield, NC; a brother, (name omitted from article). The Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon were in charge of funeral arrangements.
