Alice Hamel

Orange, NH–Alice Hamel, 83, of Orange, died on Thursday, March 26, 1998, at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born May 14, 1914, in Leominster, MA, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Ide) Smith.

She was married to Oswald Hamel on Sept. 28, 1936, and had been employed as a registered nurse at Ayer (MA) Community Hospital. She and her husband moved to Orange in 1959. Mr. Hamel died in 1985.

Mrs. Hamel was an active member of Canaan Home Extension Group and will be remembered as a talented craftsperson and patient teacher, who inspired many.

She is survived by three sons, Paul F. Hamel of Avondale Estates, GA, Allen J. Hamel of Canaan, and Gary J. Hamel of Orange; five grandchildren and a great grandchild.

There will be no funeral services.
