William L. “Bill” Stone Jr.

Enfield, NH–William L. “Bill” Stone Jr., 62, died Thursday, December 21, 1995 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.  He was born in Hanover, NH, November 7, 1933, the son of the late William L.  and Margaret (Merrill) Stone Sr.  and had been a lifelong area resident.  He attended Hanover schools and was a graduate of Hanover High School.  Following his military service with the United States Air Force, he went on to graduate from the University of New Hampshire in 1933.  For many years he was employed as a civil engineer for LeClair Associates of Hanover, NH.  He was an accomplished athlete and had competed in hockey, football, and baseball while attending UNH, and later was a grade school coach in basketball and baseball.  He was a member of the Enfield Lions Club and the Mascoma Boosters.

There were no calling hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, December 30th at 11 a.m. at the St.  Helena’s Church in Enfield with burial following in the Pine Knoll Cemetery in Hanover, NH.

The family suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to:  The Enfield F.A.S.T. Squad, Enfield, NH  03748 or the Canaan F.A.S.T. Squad Canaan, NH  03741.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon, NH.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth A.  (Brawn) Stone of Enfield, NH whom he married August 27, 1960; a daughter, Martha Lynn Dignazio of Lowell, MA; a son, Robert Louis Stone of Enfield, NH; a brother, Joseph E.  Stone of Deerfield, NH; a sister Beverly Potwin of Lebanon, NH; a sister, Beverly Dart of Tariffville, CT; a sister, Mary Rexford of East Burke, VT, two grand-daughters, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ethel May Tibbets

Lebanon, NH–Ethel May Tibbets “Tootie” Tibbits, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 1994 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Ctr. in Lebanon, NH.  She was born in Jamaica, VT July 7,1919, the daughter of the late Delmar & Phoebe (Lackey) Stone.  She was married to the late Forrest Tibbits July4, 1939 and had been a resident of this area since 1946.  She had worked for many years as a Nurse’s Aide at the Alice Peck Day Extended Care Facility in Lebanon, and was a member of the Lebanon Eagles.

There were no calling hours.  Graveside services were conducted Thursday afternoon, Dec. 29th at 1 p.m. in the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon.  The Ricker Funeral Home of Lebanon was in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include: a son, Delmar Tibbits of Spartansburg, SC; a son James Tibbits of Enfield Ctr.; a son, Richard Tibbits of Canaan; a son, William Tibbits of Canaan; a son, Harry Tibbits of Enfield Ctr.; a daughter, Carol Moodie of East Plainfield; a son, Paul Tibbits of Canaan; a daughter, Marie Wolfson of Enfield; a son, Thomas Tibbits of Lebanon; a sister, Freda Day of Fairlee, VT; a brother, Albert Stone of Lebanon; a brother, William Stone of Wilder, VT; 20 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Forrest Tibbits; and four brothers, Delmar Stone, Lyman Stone, Clifton Stone and Harry Stone.
