Lebanon, NH–Rena May Heaney, 93, died Monday, March 8, 1999 at the Lebanon Center of Genesis Elder Care. She was born in Plainfield, NH on February 4, 1906, the daughter of the late Ernest & Lucinda (Bartlett) Goodwin. She attended Kimball Union Academy; was a member of the Community Lutheran Church of Enfield; and a member of the Relham Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was married to the late Walter Coutermarsh Sr., and later was married to the late John Heaney.

There will be no calling hours. Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Public graveside services will be held in the spring at the Lakeview Cemetery in Enfield. Canaan, NH–Ruby May Lord, 80, died Friday March 26, 1999 at the Mt. Ascutney Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor, VT following a long illness. She was born in Canaan, NH September 22, 1918, the daughter of the late Earl & Marion (Lary) White. A lifelong resident of Canaan she was a graduate of Canaan High School-Class of 1937. She was married to Selden W. Lord on September 30, 1939 in Hiram, ME. They were wonderful dancers and enjoyed dancing socially and had won several awards. Ruby was a 65-year member of the Grange reaching the 7th Degree level. She had held all offices of the Indian River Grange and was Past Master several times. She also held offices with the Mascoma Valley Pamona Grange, and was a member of the State and National Grange. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Canaan where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an avid supporter of Little League and American Legion Baseball having been the scorekeeper at most games. She was a member of the Mascoma Booster Club and the Green Mountain Horse Association. She had volunteered at the Mascoma and Lebanon Senior Centers and Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. In 1975 & 1977 she had volunteered for two weeks at the Methodist Mission at Henderson Settlement in Kentucky. Ruby had been employed by, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH for 13 years retiring in 1984.

Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home, Route 4 in Enfield, Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2pm in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Williams officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan. Daniel Ralph Dolley

Windsor, VT–Daniel Ralph Dolley, 40, died Saturday, March 27,1999 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following a brief illness. He was born in Island Falls, ME on January 18, 1959, a son of Elmer & Evelyn (Henry) Dolley. He moved to Enfield, NH as a young child where he attended local schools and always considered Enfield his home. He had been a resident of Windsor, VT for the last several years where he was a member of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, and the American Legion Post of Windsor. He was an active volunteer at the American Legion and for various community activities. Daniel was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed attending his children’s activities. He also enjoyed writing poetry and playing the trumpet.

There were no calling hours. A memorial service was held Tuesday morning at 10am in the Ricker Funeral Home, Route 4 in Enfield. The Rev. William Cobb officiated.

Gene Clifton Davis

Canaan, NH–Gene Clifton Davis, 68, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Canaan, NH on May 17, 1930, the son of the late Clifton I. & Doris (Columbia) Davis. A lifelong Canaan resident, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Canaan High School – Class of 1948. He had been employed as a custodian for the Canaan schools and also by the former Baltic Mills. For over 30 years he owned and operated Davis Oil Service in Canaan until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cutting wood, maple sugaring, baking, and Canaan town history. He was married July 2, 1957 to Edith (Doe).

Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home, Route 4 in Enfield, Saturday evening from 7-9pm. Graveside Committal Services will be held at a later date in the Canaan Street Cemetery in Canaan, NH.

He was married to Marguerite Evans March 12, 1938 and they had made their home in Enfield. He was a 60 Plus year life member of the Hartford Lodge of Elks and a past member of the Lebanon Moose Lodge. Friends may call at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM. An Elks Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home in Lebanon. Following cremation burial will be at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield. Danbury, NH–Elmer H. Grace, 78, of High Street, died Sunday, February 28, 1999 at the New London Hospital suddenly. He as born in Canaan, NH on Aug. 3, 1920, the son of George and Lottie (Osborne) Grace. He had lived in Danbury since 1952 previously residing in Canaan, NH. Mr. Grace had been employed by the State of NH; local contractors; the Highland Ski Area in Northfield for many years and by E.D. Swett Construction for several years retiring in 1983. He was a former Fire Chief of Danbury. Members of his family survivng include his wife of 46 years, Pauline E. (Martin) Grace of Danbury, NH; three sons, Ronald Grace of Canaan, NH, Tracy B. Hines of Errol, NH and Terry L. Hines of Whitefield, NH; a daughter, Shirley Greene of Lebanon, NH; several grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a twin brother, Elwin Grace of Canaan, NH; other brothers, Donald Grace of Thornton, NH and George Grace, Jr. of Canaan, NH; a sister, Doris Crate of Plainfield, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louise Pound Krayer

Canaan, NH–Louise Pound Krayer, 96, a long-time summer resident of Canaan Street, died on February 4, 1998 in Bar Harbor, ME. Mrs. Krayer moved to Maine in 1985 from Scarsdale, NY but continued to spend summers in Canaan until 1994. She is survived by a brother, Thomas Hanson of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter and son, Judith P. Swazey of Bar Harbor, ME and Donald L. Pound of Montpelier, VT; her stepdaughters, Gerry Burr of Louisville, KY and Marilyn Lawrence of New Orleans, LA; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Contributions in Mrs. Krayer’s memory may be made to the Canaan Library or to the Old North Church Fund.

Joseph Robert Bosley

Enfield, NH–Joseph Robert Bosley, 79, died Sunday January 18, 1998 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., VT. He was born in Dalton, MA July 22, 1918, the son of John and Evangeline (Goddard) Bosley. He attended schools in Dalton, MA and Torrington, CT. He spent 2 years in the Civil Conservation Corps in Palisades, CO working on a dam on the Colorado River. He was married to Laura (Chapman) on June 1, 1941 in Meriden, NH. They went to Litchfield, CT to live where he was a foreman on a large dairy farm. He served in the Army with the 20th Armored Division in the European Theatre during WWII. Following his discharge he settled in Meriden. He spent 2 years in the Agriculture School in West Lebanon while he was building up his poultry farm. He produced about 40,000 broilers per year. Later he changed to laying hens from which he produced eggs for the Re & White stores in NH, VT, and MA. He set up the first cage layer outfit in NH which housed 12,000 birds in one building. He was an avid coon hunter and fisherman and a good sportsman.

Surviors include: his wife of Lebanon; a son, David R. Bosley of Plant City, FL; a sister, Olive Anstette of Torrington, CT; a brother, John Bosley of Floral City, FL; 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren. Joseph is preceded in death by his father, John Bosley; his mother, Evangeline (Goddard) Bosley; his youngest son, Thomas Bosley who died in 1965, 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

William H. “Punk” Curtis

Enfield, NH–William H. “Punk” Curtis, 54, died Saturday morning January 31, 1998 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Lebanon, NH October 6, 1943, the son of the late Frederick & Helen (Henry) Curtis, Sr. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and was a lifelong Upper Valley resident. He had been employed by Dartmouth College for 17 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. William is preceded in death by two bothers; Betram Curtis and Gordon Curtis, and a granddaughter, Samantha Creighton.

Survivors include: his wife, Janette (Thibodeau) Curtis of Enfield, two daughters; Debra George of Canaan, and Lorretta Creighton of Lebanon; a son, Robert Curtis of Concord; two brothers, Frederick Curtis, Jr. of Grantham and David S. Curtis, Sr. of Keene; 7 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews annd cousins.

Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon, NH.

Peter A. Reynolds

Enfield, NH–Peter A. Reynolds, 43, died Sunday January 25, 1998. He was born in Woodsville, NH April 20, 1954, the son of Ernest A. and Myrle (Hight) Reynolds Jr. He had lived in Warren, Bristol, and for the last 5 years in Enfield, NH. He was a graduate of the New Hampton School and later attended Plymouth State College. Mr. Reynolds had owned and operated Peter Reynolds Logging Co. before working for various construction companies. At the time of his death, he was as supervisor for Paragon Construction Co.

Peter was an avid skier and had been a ski instructor at the Whaleback Ski Area in Enfield. He also loved water skiing and was a member of the New Hampshire Water Ski Association.

He will be remembered by his family as a “Man of Ideas.”

Survivors include: his wife, Tami (Richard) Reynolds of Enfield; his father, Ernest A. Reynolds Jr. of Zephyrhillis, FL; 4 daughters; Amelia Reynolds of Ashland; Larissa Rey,nolds of Ashland; Crystal Tobin of Enfield; Caitlin Tobin of Enfield; 2 sons; Morgan Reynolds of Ashland and Devon Reynolds of Ashland; a sister, Brenda Partridge of Sterling, PA; a grandmother-in-law, Helen “Nana” LaBombard of Lebanon, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter is preceded in death by his mother, Myrle Reynolds who died May 1997.

Burial will be in the spring in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, NH.
