Herbert Britton King

Enfield, NH–Herbert Britton King, 88, died Monday July 22, 1996 at the Woodlawn Nursing Home in Newport, NH.  He was born in Waterford, CT June 7, 1908, the son of the late Dana & Addie (Britton) King and had lived most of his life in the Upper Valley.  He had worked at the Enfield Box Co.; The Baltic Mills of Enfield; and in his retirement drove a bus for the Lebanon Street School.  He thoroughly enjoyed people, fishing, playing cards, gardening and  camping.  He will be remembered in Enfield Center as selling his roadside veggies with his little white poodle “Scampy.”

Burial will be at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Enfield, NH.

Survivors include;  Sons: Harry King, Newport, NH, Glen King, Enfield Center, NH, Richard King, Enfield, NH; Daughters:  Yvonne Pollard, Enfield, NH, Marie Bean, Enfield, NH; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 1 cousin and ! niece.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia M.  King, who died March 24, 1988; a daughter, Alice Louise King who died in infancy; and a sister, Gladys Goldenbaum who died in 1957.
