Jean C. LaPlante

Enfield, NH–Jean C. LaPlante, 73, died Sunday at her daughter’s home, where she had lived for the past 12 years, following a long illness.

She was born Jan. 18, 1925, in Claremont, a daughter of Alexander and Rosanna (Dansereau) LeClair. Mrs. LaPlante lived most of her life in Claremont, where she graduated from Stevens High School in 1942.

She was employed by Paine Webber, in Boston, before her marriage on June 19, 1948, to Leo R. LaPlante. Mr. LaPlante died Aug. 20, 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane Croteau of Enfield; two sons, Donald LaPlante of Lancaster, NH and Dennis LaPlante of Claremont; two brothers, Alexander LaClair of Newbury, NH, and Richard LaClair of North Hampton, NH; two sisters, Carolyn Sheehan of Sun City, FL, and Eleanor Jone of Claremont; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church in Claremont, with the Rev. Maurice LaRochelle, a family friend and pastor of All Saints Parish in Lancaster, NH, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Roy Funeral Home in Claremont.
