Lester S. Grant

Lebanon, NH–Lester S. Grant, 86, died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

He was born in Hartford, VT on July 20, 1916, a son of R. Edwin and Harriet M. (Stevens) Grant, and attended school in Wilder, VT. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army from 1940-1945. On July 23, 1941 he was married to Alice Martin in Chicopee, MA.

He lived in Wilder and was a surgical technician at the Veterans Affair Hospital in White River Jct and Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover until his retirement in 1973. He lived in Morgan, VT from 1975 until he returned to Wilder in 1995. He had lived in Lebanon for the past five years.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Peters; two brothers, Ray and Chester Grant; and three sisters, Lydia Slocum, Ruth Gray and Anna Ricker. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patricia Clough of Vernon, VT; two sons, Daniel Grant of Enfield and Paul Grant of Lebanon; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Allyn Grant of Sun City, CA; two sisters, Harriet LaBelle and Ramona Welch, both of Wilder; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. A funeral service was held Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home.
