Additional Information: He came from Belgium to New York at the age of 4 and moved to Canaan in the 1940’s. He owned and operated Mascoma Lumber Company in Canaan for many years before returning to New York State in the 1950’s to work in the lumber industry. He was married to Polly LaVersey who died in 1966. In 1967 he moved back to Canaan and in 1973 was married to Charlotte Beede who died in 1996. In 1988 he purchased a number of properties in Canaan including the Remacle Block in Canaan which he managed at the time of his death. He was a member of Social-Summit Lodge F. & A.M. in Canaan, a charter member of the Canaan Lions Club, served on the Canaan Fire Dept, the Planning Board, and was town’s Building Inspector for many years. He had also been a land surveyor in this area for several years.
Friends called at the Ricker Funeral Home on Route 4 in Enfield on Friday night from 7-9.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 am at the St. Mary’s Church in Canaan with burial in the Wells Cemetery in Canaan. Ricker Funeral Home of Enfield was in cahrge of arrangements.
